My favorite early spring flowers
Early spring events are always my favorites. All of the early spring flowers are so delicate and perfectly fragrant. I particularly love flowers that are not available all year round- it makes the time that they are available extra special. Here is a bundle of some of my favorite early spring blooms.
Sweet peas - Always my favorite and always at the top of my list. Their delicate scent is so precious. They come in such a wide variety of colors and seem to make every arrangement extra fancy. While they do look great on their own in a vase, they also pair really well with others.
Poppies - Poppies are always the most surprising flower! They come in looking like little fuzzy pods, but open up to be the most inspiring flowers in the prettiest colors. I always feel a little nervous using them as they seem so delicate. However, when conditioned properly, they are quite resilient. It is best to fight the urge not to cut the stems. Leave them as is and place in fresh room temperature water. They will soon begin to open slowly.
Mimosa - Also known as acacia, this is another floral with such a sweet fragrance. Their puffy yellow flowers form large clusters. Their scent always reminds me of the first flower shop I worked at in New York City. I had never seen anything like them before and was immediately drawn to them.
Hyacinth - If you love fragrant flowers, you more than likely love hyacinth! This spring flower comes in a myriad of pretty colors and is a staple in my house in the spring. I especially love it alone in a vase.
Daffodils - Just looking at daffodil blooms puts me in a better mood. They are some of the most cheerful flowers and are the perfect sign that spring is on it's way. I am still discovering all the beautiful colors they come in and they have quickly made it to the top of my favorites list.
Muscari - There is nothing sweeter than little blue muscari. For being so small, they really make such an impact. We use them a lot in bud vases and they make the cutest boutonnieres.
